In June 2018, Statistics Canada released new data on human trafficking charges from 2009-2016. This latest report confirms what many advocates have been saying for the past few years - incidents of human trafficking continue to rise. In fact, over 50% of the police reported cases from 2009 onward have taken place in 2015-2016. According to this report, victims of human trafficking are most often young women, and the vast majority of persons accused of human trafficking are male, most often young.
